Ingredients

Toor dal

1 cup Toor dal

Water

2-1/2 cups Water

Salt

1 tsp Salt

Turmeric

1/4 tsp Turmeric

Ghee

3 tbs Ghee

Chopped tomatoes

1 cup Chopped tomatoes

Cumin seeds

1/2 tsp Cumin seeds

Mustard Seeds

1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds

Bay Leaf

2 Bay Leaf

Green Chilli

1 tbs chopped Green Chilli

Ginger

2 tsp shredded Ginger

Cilantro

2 tbs Cilantro

Red Pepper

1/2 tsp Red Pepper

Salt

1/2 tsp Salt

Sugar

1 tsp Sugar

Garam Masala

1/4 tsp Garam Masala

Instructions

1- Wash and soak toor dal in approx.

2- 3 cups of water, for at least one hours.

3- Dal will be double in volume after soaking.

4- Drain the water.

5- Cook dal with 2-1/2 cups water and add salt, turmeric, on medium high heat, until soft in texture (approximately 30 mins) it should be like thick soup.

6- In a frying pan, heat the ghee.

7- Add cumin seeds, and mustard seeds.

8- After the seeds crack, add bay leaves, green chili, ginger and chili powder.

9- Stir for a few seconds.

10- Add tomatoes, salt and sugar stir and cook until tomatoes are tender and mushy.

11- Add cilantro and garam masala cook for about one minute.

12- Pour the seasoning over dal mix it well and cook for another minute.

13- Serve with Naan.
